Chelsea Begin Push to Seal January Signing From Marseille: Reports

Chelsea are working hard to sign Marseille striker Robinio Vaz in January, as the teenager is now seen as a top priority for the winter window. The Blues are talking to the Ligue 1 club and the 18-year-old’s camp about reaching an agreement before the end of the 2025-26 season.

According to emerging reports, the Blues are the most interested of several big European clubs in Vaz. Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Napoli are also interested. Vaz is signed with Marseille until 2028, and Transfermarkt estimates his value at about €4 million on the open market.

However, it is believed that the French club values him closer to €16 million. Some reports say that they would need a bid between €20 and €30 million to sell him this winter.

Vaz, who was promoted from Marseille’s academy at the start of the year, is now one of Ligue 1’s best young forwards. He has scored four goals and assisted on two others in league play this season, even though he mostly comes off the bench as an impact player. This makes him even more appealing to Europe’s best clubs.

The Blues have reportedly talked to the France U20 international and his agents, and they are also still talking to Marseille about a possible deal in January. He aligns with Clearlake Capital’s recruitment strategy, which has been to sign players with significant long-term potential to long-term contracts.

Marseille are expected to respond by offering their academy product a better contract. They don’t have to sell right away because they have already turned down a lot of interest.

Chelsea Prepares Transfer Window Targets

Vaz is one of many players linked to Chelsea before the January transfer window. However, some reports say that the club’s higher-ups would rather wait until the summers of 2026 and 2027 to make big changes to the squad.

Up front, Juventus striker Jonathan David is a player whose name keeps coming up. Chelsea and Tottenham are both keeping a close eye on him after a rough start to his Serie A career. The Canadian international could be available if Juventus listens to offers in January, and the Blues are ready to act if the chance comes up.

Separate reports have also linked the Blues with fellow Juve forward Dusan Vlahovic as they look for top-level center-forward targets. Another well-known name is Kenan Yildiz. The Blues have been trying hard to sign the 20-year-old Juventus forward, making what has been described as a firm offer.

People see Yildiz as a versatile forward who can play anywhere on the front line, but any move would likely cost a lot of money, as he is becoming more popular in Turin.
