Chris Hemsworth Sends Up Aussie Icon Steve Irwin In Unseen Home Video — And Robert Irwin Approves

Chris Hemsworth has revealed one of his earliest acting roles: playing the late Aussie great Steve Irwin.

The Thor actor showcased a home video of him impersonating the conservationist in his new Hulu/Disney+ documentary Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember.

“My first self-appointed, unofficial acting gig. I drew inspiration from one of my heroes, the crocodile hunter himself,” Hemsworth wrote in a social media post.

The home video captures Hemsworth as Irwin tracking down a “Siberian Tiger Australian Fox,” which in reality appears to be the family dog.

Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember films Hemsworth with his parents watching the video, with the Extraction actor joking: “There’s that and then Thor.”

Robert Irwin approved of Hemsworth sending up his Dad. Irwin, whose profile has risen in the U.S. following his performances on Dancing With The Stars, said: “I reckon Dad would’ve been stoked 🐊”

Produced by Jane Root’s Nutopia, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember follows Hemsworth and his father, Craig, on a road trip across Australia, visiting places in their shared past.

The occasion for the trip was Craig’s recent diagnosis with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Along the way, they explore the idea of reminiscence therapy.

The director was Tom Barbor-Might, executive producers were Arif Nurmohamed, Peter Lovering, Tom Watt-Smith, and series editor Greg Vince. Line producers were Uschi Teh and Becky Claridge, led by Caroline McCool.
