Jazzy Davidson’s first collegiate double-double propels Women of Troy past Tennessee Tech

LOS ANGELES, CA — Following a tough loss in South Bend last time out, the Women of Troy returned to their rightful home in the Galen Center, eager to get themselves back into the win column. They would do just that and more as the Trojans took care of the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles without a sweat, with a final score of 85-44, which was headlined by freshman Jazzy Davidson recording the first double-double of her collegiate career.
“Amongst her many skills, I just think her effort is really exceptional on both sides of the ball,” USC Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb said on how Davidson has been improving on both sides of the floor.

The Women of Troy displayed utter dominance in the first half against the Golden Eagles, all in due part of Davidson’s early production from the floor. The freshman shot 6-9 from the floor in the first half with 14 points and 9 boards. Senior guard Londynn Jones wasn’t too far behind her teammate as she had double-digit points herself, notching 10 on 4-6 shooting, and went a perfect 2-2 from beyond the arc.
With the tremendous amount of production from both sides of the floor, the Women of Troy had found themselves on a 20-0 run with 4:34 left before the first half concluded.
The defense, on the other hand, was just as effective as the offensive production, as the Women of Troy were throwing themselves a block party at the Galen Center, as they notched 15 total team blocks, the second most in program history since 1984.
“I think what was impressive about this is our length that we can put in a number of places,” coach Gottlieb said, concerning how she’s been seeing the improvement on the interior defense from multiple players.

The second half was more or less the same for the Women of Troy, as Davidson would continue her efficient shooting from all corners of the floor, as she contributed 6 more points to her game total, bringing her final line score to 20 points on 9-14 shooting and 16 rebounds with 4 assists. Jones would also notch herself 20 points and 2 assists.
USC finds itself back home for another home game this Friday against Pepperdine.
