CAROLINE CURRID is set to rejoin to the Limerick senior hurling backroom team ahead of the 2026 season. The Irish Examiner have reported that the sports psychologist will be part of John Kiely’s backroom team for the upcoming season.
The current Limerick senior hurling team are yet to win an All-Ireland without sports psychologist Caroline Currid being involved in the backroom team. Currid has played a pivotal role in Limerick hurling’s remarkable achievements.
The sports psychologist worked with the Shannonsiders in 2018 when Limerick ended their 45 year wait for the Liam MacCarthy Cup. In 2019 she wasn’t involved with John Kiely’s set-up.

She returned to the Limerick senior hurling setup from 2020 to 2023, a period during which the team won four All-Ireland titles and four Munster championships. In 2023, the Sligo native stepped away from the Kiely’s backroom team.
Tony Óg Regan, Joe O’Connor and Paul Kilgannon have worked as Limerick’s psychologist in recent seasons.
Currid has won All-Ireland titles with the Dublin senior footballers, Tyrone senior footballers and the Tipperary senior hurlers.
The former Limerick senior hurling psychologist has played a key role this year in Maigh Cuilinn winning the Galway Senior Football Championship.
Meanwhile, former Limerick hurling star Seamus Flanagan is set to take his first step into management with Tipperary club Boherlahan/Dualla. Flanagan was not included in the 2026 Limerick senior hurling squad by manager John Kiely. He was was released from the panel alongside Jason Gillane, Micheál Houlihan, Fergal O’Connor and Cian Scully.
Limerick are set to take on great rivals Tipperary in a special challenge game in support of the Dillon Quirke Foundation next month. The game will take place as part of the inaugural Champions Under Lights event at Fethard Town Park on Saturday, December 13 at 6pm.
The Shannonsiders will begin their Co-Op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League campaign against Clare on Saturday January 3 in Clare. The 2023 All-Ireland champions will host Cork on Wednesday, January 7 at 7pm in a Limerick venue.
