Ruth Langsford says she is “very grateful” as she opens up about life after her split from Eamonn Holmes ahead of Christmas. The television personalities announced their separation in May 2024 after a 14-year marriage. The pair have a grown-up son, Jack, aged 23. Despite the changes in her personal life, Ruth is determined to keep the Christmas spirit alive for Jack and her mother Joan by maintaining family traditions.

Speaking to Woman magazine, she shared her love for “stockings, “loads of decorations” and festive games. However, she confessed that she “particularly misses” her father, Dennis, who passed away ten years ago after a battle with dementia. Rather than focusing on the end of her marriage, Ruth is looking forward to the festive season and embracing a new chapter in her life.

“It’s about looking to the future and recognising a new chapter, a new beginning. It’s exciting,” she said. Since parting ways with Eamonn, Ruth has remained a familiar face on TV, making regular appearances on shopping channel QVC and serving as a panellist on Loose Women. She previously co-hosted segments on This Morning alongside Eamonn, reports the Mirror.

She stated: “All I know is that I am happier than I’ve been in a long time with loads of fantastic opportunities. I am very grateful.”

The television presenter also hinted at a potential return to This Morning. When asked if she would consider hosting the show with “TV son” Rylan Clark, she responded: “If they’d have me, they only have to ask, especially with Rylan! I love Rylan. He’s like my son, really. We adore each other, and we’ve worked together before, so who knows?”

Ruth acknowledges her concerns about how many more Christmases she’ll share with her 94 year old mother Joan. Joan lives in a care home close to Ruth’s residence, and whilst she’s well looked after, the broadcaster manages all her personal affairs, from taking her to medical appointments to handling any shopping needs.

She said: “I speak a lot about my lovely mum and about the battle she is facing, so every year with her is a privilege. I will spend the big day with family. I always do the cooking which I really enjoy. At Christmas I particularly miss my dad. I don’t know how many more Christmases she [her mum] might have and I value every bit of time I have with her.”

The television personality is understood to be currently single, whilst former spouse Eamonn is reportedly dating Katie Alexander. Recently, Ruth seemed to make a dig at Eamonn during her stint on Loose Women. This occurred whilst discussing former Prime Minister David Cameron, who recently disclosed his battle with prostate cancer. The illness was detected after Lord Cameron’s wife Samantha urged him to get screened.

Responding to the news, Loose Women panellist Myleene Klass observed: “It is a known fact that men live longer when they’re married because they have wives, and women live longer when they aren’t married shall we say… you do the maths!” Ruth retorted: “Good to know!” as she shared a laugh with the audience and her co-hosts about the possibility of a longer life now that she’s single.

This week, Ruth is set to appear on Richard Osman’s House of Games at 6pm on BBC Two. She will be pitted against former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, comedian Rosie Ramsay, and actor Nathan Bryon. Sharing a video of herself filming the show on social media, Ruth wrote: “Cannot believe I’m here!!! @houseofgames @misterosman. SOOOOO excited…. and scared!!”

The star previously revealed she was staying at the Stock Exchange Hotel during filming. Earlier this year, the hotel, in Norfolk Street, was recognised with the Travellers Choice Award from Tripadvisor, which is given to venues which are heralded for their excellent amenities and above-and-beyond customer service.

Sharing a glimpse inside the venue as well as her swish suite, the former This Morning host said on Instagram: “Fantastic weekend in Manchester combining work with seeing family & friends. Stayed at the amazing @stockexhotel ….thank you for the gorgeous suite and for looking after me so well as always. I had a dressing table with a mirror AND a plug! Thank you @liztaylorconsultancy for arranging for me….great to see you.”
