ITV viewers were left divided over a chaotic Peter Kay interview on Thursday (November 27). The 52-year-old comedian appeared on today’s episode of This Morning, where he spoke to presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about his new memoir, Peter Kay’s Diary.

However, the segment soon descended into mayhem when Cat playfully urged Ben and Peter to “behave” and called for more “order and decorum”. Peter then got to his feet after his microphone pack became detached, joking: “It’s morse code when I go to the toilet.”

The chaos escalated when the presenters abruptly wrapped up their conversation with Peter to hand over to Charlene White, who briefly outlined what was ahead on Loose Women. “We’re going to be back with you very shortly, Charlene are you there?” Ben said, reports the Liverpool Echo.

“Are we doing an advert?” a bewildered Peter later questioned. “What was that then? That was surreal. I bet Charlene’s cross with me now, she only got about six seconds.”

As the programme’s closing theme began playing in the studio, Ben quipped: “We might still be here tomorrow with Peter,” whilst the comedian waved farewell. After watching the segment, numerous ITV viewers rushed to social media to express their disappointment at the interview’s abrupt conclusion.

“Lol, what a way to end,” one viewer posted on X (formerly Twitter), whilst another commented: “Lets hope his tour isn’t cut as short as that interview again.”

A third remarked: “All the s**** on this show today and they ran out of time.” However, other viewers expressed their appreciation for Peter’s slot on the programme, with one person declaring: “Peter Kay is a total legend.”

Another commented: “Still funny as ever,” while a third chimed in with: “I bloody love Peter Kay.”

This follows the announcement that the comedian will be donating all profits from his 2026 stand-up tour to a dozen cancer charities. The Better Late Than Never tour, set to kick off next month, will conclude at Manchester’s AO Arena in August.

“Unfortunately, everybody knows someone who’s been affected on that list [of charities], and I just hope people support it. You don’t even have to like me to come, it goes beyond that, this is about supporting these charities,” Peter shared on The One Show on Wednesday.

The chosen charities are Children With Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Blood Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, DKMS UK, Ovarian Cancer Action, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, The Brain Tumour Charity and Breast Cancer UK.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
