Tony Germano dead: Netflix and Disney star dies after horror fall from roof

Tony Germano has died aged 55 after accidentally falling to his death. The celebrated voice actor and film actor is best known for his roles across Netflix, Nickelodeon and Disney. The star tragically died on Wednesday (November 26) after climbing to the roof of his house in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to check on renovation work, but as he tried to assess the progress, Tony sadly lost his balance. The actor’s death was confirmed shortly after.

Tony lived alone and had no children. Less than a month before the accident, he had moved into his parents’ home. According to reports, the night before his death, Tony had spent time with his sister and appeared to be in good spirits. Throughout his 30-year career, the voice actor played roles in Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Netflix’s Go, Dog, Go!, Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, and more. He also lent his vocal talents to voice characters in animations, including Elena of Avalor, The Muppets, and Sheriff Callie’s Wild West.

Tony was also known for his stage and theatre work, having performed in productions such as The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Jekyll and Hyde, and Fiddler on the Roof.

More recently, he appeared in Labyrinth of the Lost Boys, which played at the 49th São Paulo International Film Festival in October.

The actor’s funeral took place on Thursday (November 27), and he was laid to rest in Vargem Grande Paulista, where heartbroken friends and family attended to say their goodbyes.

Devastated fans took to social media to pay their tributes as one follower wrote on Tony’s Instagram post: “Dear Tony, so sad to hear of your passing. I wish you a lot of light and may your passage be light and kind as you’ve always been”.

A second added: “So sad, just heard of his passing!! I can’t believe it. I watched him live in Sleepy Forest, and then he became my friend. I can’t believe you’re gone. Your talent and kindness will be greatly missed! Rest in peace, my friend!”

As another penned: “Sad… so sad to see you leave!!! Thank you, dear friend of so many years, for your ART.”

His co-stars also shared their tributes, as voice actress Maria Lopes said: “Tony was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever worked with. Always generous with his time and so full of life. It’s impossible to imagine the stage and studios without him.”

Brazilian actor Miguel Falabella echoed: “An impeccable professional, a dear friend, a talented actor. I had the privilege of working alongside him in several productions, such as Annie and Man of La Mancha, among others. Mission accomplished, my dear.”

As Jarbas Homem de Mello, the husband of singer Claudia Raia, commented on the post, writing: “Many applauses for you, dear friend.”
