Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said the issue with the beer was “secondary fermentation”.
Secondary fermentation can lead to over-pressurisation of the can and may cause it to burst, potentially resulting in injury.
It also makes the beverage dangerous to consume.
“Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may cause illness/injury if consumed,” FSANZ said.

Customers who purchased the beer have been urged “not open or drink this product” and to “dispose of it safely”.
“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” FSANZ said.
