Cowgirls’ Season Ends at MW Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 26, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls’ season came to an end Wednesday night at the Mountain West Volleyball Championships. The third-seeded Cowgirls were swept in the contest by the No. 6 seed San Diego State. Set scores went 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19.

The Aztecs controlled things from start-to-finish Wednesday, scoring the first three points of the match and didn’t look back. Wyoming didn’t have a lead in either the first or third sets. The Cowgirls hit .216 in the loss while San Diego State hit .294.

Wyoming did record more blocks than the Aztecs, 8-2 and had one more service ace (5-4). However, the league’s number one digs team was out dug by SDSU in the match, 50-39 and had 15 fewer kills. San Diego State also had one fewer serving error.

Sarah Holcomb led the Cowgirls on both sides of the net in her final match in the Brown & Gold. Holcomb was the only Cowgirl with double-digit kills as she tallied 11 and hit an efficient .455 in the loss. Holcomb also recorded a match-high five total blocks. The senior finishes her career fourth in program history in career hitting percentage and is sixth with 538 career blocks.

Addy Cook and Jordan Sandy had six and five kills, respectively on the night. The duo also recorded three blocks each. Paige Lauterwasser and Emma Winter chipped in with four kills each while Lauterwasser had 11 digs.

Skylar Erickson led the way with 13 digs in the loss and finishes with 1,048 for her career, placing her in seventh on the all-time career digs list. Lily LaFlesch led the Cowgirls with three service aces. Erickson and Sandy had the other two.

At setter, Sara Quigley paced Wyoming with 13 against the Aztecs while Maddy Stucky had 10. Both also added four digs while Quigley also had a kill. Erickson added five assists of her own.

UW finishes 2025 at 17-13 overall.
