Urgent recall for porridge oats, children’s toys and chargers due to major safety risks

Risks include choking, burns, electric shock and fire

A number of recalls have been made in Ireland for food and items sold online from Shein and Temu.
They include porridge oats sold in one of Ireland’s biggest supermarkets, and toys and children’s items sold on Shein and Temu. Risks include choking, possibly ignition and chemical burns.
Both the FSAI and CCPC have warnings on their platforms, and point of sale notices have been issued. The items affected include:

Dunnes Stores recalled Organic Porridge Oats due to the possible presence of clear plastic pellets. Point of sale recall notices have been issued.
Shein recalls
A number of recalls for children’s items have been made by the Shein online platform. They include a puppy plush toy and a mermaid dress.

The risk reported to the CCPC is of choking. Small parts can detach from the toy and become accessible, which could pose a risk of choking by ingestion. The batch number is prx255. The product identifier is sl2409242297217890.

The product presents a burns risk. Children could wear the costume close to an ignition source, and the costume could catch fire, resulting in burns. The brand is unknown. There are approximately 68 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
Chargers
A recall was also made recently for chargers sold on the platform. CCPC said: “The product presents a risk of electric shock, fire and injury. The product has poor insulation, lack of thermal protection, faulty earthing, and missing or incorrect ratings.”
Temu recalls
Children’s products sold on the Temu app have been recalled by CCPC. They include a cat paw squishy, a musical rattle toy and a plush toy white duck.

The risk reported to the CCPC is chemical, due to exposure to restricted phthalates over permitted limits. Exposure to phthalates can harm children’s health by potentially damaging their reproductive system. The model number is JY100. The bar code is 7144531495. The batch number is 24100112.
