M25 Brentwood delays: ‘Four miles of queues’ after car fire

Drivers faced “four miles of congestion” after a car caught fire on the M25.
National Highways said earlier traffic had been “stopped” between junction 27 and junction 28 in Brentwood, Essex. It added that the fire service was at the scene.
“Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 45 minutes and approximately four miles of congestion remains,” National Highways said on X, external.
Inrix, which provides real-time traffic information, said one lane out of four had been closed, and while the “fire had been extinguished”, work continued to “clear debris and clear the carriageway”.
