West Sayville teen killed by ex-boyfriend, who then shot himself in face, cops say

A West Sayville teen was shot to death by her ex-boyfriend inside his Nesconset home Wednesday morning before he shot himself in the face, Suffolk County Police said.

Officers responded to 134 Shenandoah Blvd. North about 11:10 a.m. after the 17-year-old suspect’s parents called 911, police said.

Investigators determined the teen shot his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Emily Finn of West Sayville, and then turned the gun on himself.

Finn, who graduated from Sayville High School in June, had went to her ex-boyfriend’s home to return his belongings following their recent breakup, Suffolk County Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer, commanding officer of the department’s homicide bureau, confirmed.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy, whose name is being withheld because of his age, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

Cops said he will be charged with second-degree murder and arraigned at a later date. Police at the scene in Nesconset said there was no “domestic history” regarding the teens and no 911 calls at the Nesconset house involving Finn and the suspect.
