Jeff Brohm previews Louisville Governor’s Cup game vs. Kentucky
Louisville coach Jeff Brohm talks about moving on from recent losses and finishing the season strong against rival Kentucky.
There’s plenty on the line today at L&N Stadium, where Louisville football hosts in-state rival Kentucky in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Cardinals are seeking consecutive wins in the Governor’s Cup for the first time since a five-game run (2011-15) a decade ago. If the Wildcats prevent that from happening, they’ll clinch a bowl berth for the ninth time in the past 10 years; UK enters today’s game with a 5-6 record. After starting 7-1, UofL has dropped to 7-4 after losing its last three outings.
Kentucky has an on-field mark of 20-16 versus Louisville; the Wildcats’ 52-21 rout in 2021 later was vacated because of NCAA violations, making the rivalry’s recognized record 19-16 in UK’s favor.

But the Cardinals have had the upper hand over the Wildcats since the game became an annual matchup in 1994. Since then, Louisville leads the series 16-14 (and 16-13 when taking away Kentucky’s vacated 2021 win).
