The firm says its Pembury water treatment works is experiencing “an issue”, resulting in the site closing.

“This has caused the dependent local drinking water storage tanks to run low,” its website states.

“Unfortunately, this has stopped the boosters from working.

“These are required to pump water to properties located on ground higher than the treatment works.

“Customers in these areas may now experience loss of supply or low pressure.”
