Fernando Alonso expecting his first child with girlfriend Melissa Jimenez: Reports

Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso is reportedly expecting his first child with girlfriend Melissa Jimenez. The duo has been dating since 2023 and has made a few appearances together in the paddock.

Melissa Jimenez was born in Liege, Belgium, on 26 June 1987 and is a Spanish journalist. The 38-year-old was married to Spanish footballer Marc Bartra from 2017 onwards, but she announced her separation in January 2022.

Fernando Alonso is a legend in the world of Formula 1, and it has been made known by the well-known Australian photographer Kym Illman that Alonso is expecting his first child with Jimenez. He has recently put up a post on Instagram and added:

“PARENTS TO BE. Paddock rumours two days ago, that Fernando Alonso and his girlfriend Melissa Jimenez were expecting a child, have now been confirmed by Sky Italia. It’s exciting news for the pair who have been dating since 2023.”
“The last time I saw Melissa at the track was on raceday in Monza in September and next year, Fernando will be one of 4 dads on the grid. Can you name the other 3?”

Before dating Melissa Jimenez, Fernando Alonso was previously dating Italian model Linda Morselli (2016 – 2021). In the ongoing 2025 Formula 1 season, the veteran driver is currently in 12th place in the drivers’ standings.

Fernando Alonso hopeful for a ‘fast car’ in 2026 under Adrian Newey

Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin Formula 1 team has been in the news, announcing that legendary designer Adrian Newey will be the team principal of the team in 2026.

This has been taken in an extremely positive light by Alonso, and in line with this, he has hailed Newey. Via an interaction with Formula 1, the former added:

“It’s great news for the team to have Adrian, with all his expertise and knowledge about everything that a team should need to compete at the highest level. Andy is taking different responsibilities in the area he knows best so it seems like it’s a logical change and I’m happy with that.”

“I think [Newey] has all the skills, to be honest, to make a fast car. The role of Team Principal is a bit different nowadays and you have to deal with other things – media, commitments, sponsors.”

Aston Martin, under the leadership of owner Lawrence Stroll, has huge aspirations going into the coming years of Formula 1. Alonso is currently 44, and 2026 could prove to be the year where he may have his best chance of fighting for a third world title.

The Spaniard last lifted the coveted drivers’ championship in 2006, and last won a race in the sport in 2013 (Spanish Grand Prix).
