The Buffalo Bills just cut a receiver they guaranteed $2.5 million after signing Brandin Cooks

Brandon Beane was confident in the Buffalo Bills’ receiving room entering 2025.
After the team failed to address the position early in the 2025 NFL Draft, Buffalo’s general manager defended the decision.
“A year ago, I get you guys asking why we didn’t have receivers, but I don’t understand it now,” Beane told WGR-550’s Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase. “You just saw us lead the league in points,” Beane said. “When you add all the postseason, no one scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, including the Super Bowl champions. So you just saw us do it without Stefon Diggs, same group. How is this group not better than last year’s group?”
Beane added, “Our job is to score points and win games,” Beane said. “Where do we need to get better, defense? We did that. So I get it. You got to have a show, and you got to have something to b—- about, but b—-ing about wide receiver is one of the dumbest arguments I’ve heard you.”
One day after Beane’s rant, the Bills would sign veteran wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year deal with $2.5 million in guaranteed money. Moore, 25, was a former second-round pick coming off solid seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Despite the Browns’ poor quarterback play, Moore averaged 60 catches in his two seasons, while also averaging 589 yards over that time.
Beane hoped that Moore would take his game to another level in Buffalo, thanks to having Josh Allen as his quarterback. That did not come to fruition, however, and the team waived Moore on Wednesday.
Moore caught just nine passes for 112 yards in his tenure with Buffalo, while adding 24 yards and one rushing touchdown on six carries. With Brandin Cooks signing with Buffalo on Tuesday, Moore became the odd man out.
