Who Are Bo Nix’s Parents? Everything You Need To Know About Patrick and Krista Nix

The Denver Broncos have found a franchise quarterback in Bo Nix, whom they drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. If his early production is any indication, it’s certainly possible that they discovered a long-term solution at the most important position.

While the No. 12 overall pick was a pleasant surprise throughout the 2024 NFL season and is now the leader of a Super Bowl contender in 2025, he wouldn’t be in this position today without his support system, which includes his parents, Patrick and Krista, and his wife, Izzy Smoke.

A Look at Bo Nix’s Parents

Nix was born on Feb. 25, 2000, to Patrick and Krista Nix. Here’s everything you need to know about Nix’s parents and upbringing.

Get To Know Patrick Nix

Bo’s father, Patrick, was an esteemed college athlete who also played quarterback for the Auburn Tigers. In the mid-1990s, Patrick enjoyed two successful seasons as the program’s starting quarterback.

In an era where running backs dominated, Patrick was an efficient passer, averaging 217 passing yards per game. Patrick quarterbacked the Tigers to a 17-5-1 record and a top-25 finish in both of his seasons at the helm.

Patrick was the school’s career leader in passing efficiency when he graduated, and he still holds the Auburn record for most pass completions in a game (34).

Patrick got into coaching almost immediately after graduating, landing his first gig in 1996 as Jacksonville State’s running backs coach. He had stints as a coordinator at Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), and Charleston Southern.

Over the last decade, he has been a high school head coach in Alabama, with stints at Scottsboro High School, Pinson Valley High School, and Central High School. While at Pinson Valley, he coached Bo, and they won multiple 6A state championships together.

Patrick has a 97-31 record as a high school head coach.

Get To Know Krista Chapman Nix

While there’s plenty of information on Patrick’s coaching career, there’s not much public information about Krista.

However, she’s known to be a dedicated wife of a coach and mother of an athlete, defending Bo’s performances during his time at Auburn in social media posts on Facebook.

Does Nix Have Any Siblings?

Bo has a younger brother, Caleb, who played three years at Clemson as a safety and is now playing for Jacksonville State. He also has an adopted brother, Tez Johnson, who was his teammate at the University of Oregon, and he currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

When Nix transferred to a new high school, he met Johnson while throwing with some of his new teammates. Patrick, who was the coach, invited Johnson to stay with their family. Johnson was supposed to wait for a few days, but instead, he became part of the family.

Tez and Bo became brothers, dominating high school football in Alabama before both transferring to Oregon to finish their collegiate careers together.
