FIRST ALERT | Tracking an early week Winter Storm System

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -After temperatures tumbled throughout the day today, a few lingering flakes as well as some cold drizzles are possible to wrap the weekend.
We have got a stronger system arriving Monday night into Tuesday – bringing in some accumulating snow chances.
Monday starts calmly with building cloud cover throughout the day. Temps will peak in the upper 30s with a few folks reaching the 40s.
Late on Monday evening, a winter storm system ushers in all forms of winter weather precipitation. There is a chance for accumulating snowfall the farther north and west you go in the state – but everyone will see some flying flakes. Latest model guidance has central and northern Kentucky seeing up to 4 inches of snow in places.
Flurries linger in the second half of our Tuesday, even into our Wednesday, but skies calm and dry by midweek. High temps will be stuck in the 30s.
Have a great evening – and stay weather aware!
