Arizona men’s basketball stays put in AP Poll

Arizona men’s basketball held steady in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Wildcats are ranked No. 2 in the country for the second consecutive week after dismantling Denver and Norfolk State. The Purdue Boilermakers remain No. 1.
Michigan jumped four spots to No. 3 after winning the Players Era Festival with three dominant wins, including a 40-point victory over Gonzaga.
Voters are split over who is the nation’s best team through the first four weeks of the season. Purdue received 40 first place votes, Arizona received six and Michigan got 16.
Arizona is one of six Big 12 programs ranked, joined by No. 8 Houston, No. 9 BYU, No. 10 Iowa State, No. 19 Texas Tech and No. 21 Kansas. Former Pac-12 school USC is ranked No. 24 after winning the Maui Invitational.
Arizona can notch its fourth top-25 win on Saturday when it hosts No. 20 Auburn. The game tips off at 8 p.m. MST on ESPN.
The first NCAA NET Rankings were released Monday morning. Arizona is No. 6 with two Quad 1 wins and one Quad 2 win.
Blame the UCLA Bruins for the Wildcats not having a third Quad 1 win. UCLA is down to 76 in the NET after losing to Cal last week.
Michigan leads the rankings, followed by No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Purdue, No. 4 Vanderbilt and No. 5 Gonzaga.
