On the Xbox storefront in New Zealand Red Dead Redemption’s PC listing is showing as NZ$84.90 & on sale for half off at NZ$42.45. That should translate into a base price of $50 with a sale price of $25 at launch. This matches the game’s price on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. The first Red Dead Redemption title is available via backward compatibility on Xbox.

An upgraded 4k/60 version will hit Xbox Series consoles tomorrow, December 2nd, 2025. Ahead of that release, this surprise Xbox on PC store native release has shown up at midnight New Zealand time. The original title was a 360 classic, with its sequel becoming one of the highest-rated game releases of the last generation. There have been rumors for years about a native Xbox Series and PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption 2, though no official word has ever been given. The Xbox on PC storefront gives the following description of RDR1:

This product includes the digital version of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare for PC.

Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition. Red Dead Redemption does not feature multiplayer content.

Experience the story of former outlaw John Marston as he tracks down the last remaining members of the notorious Van der Linde Gang in the PC debut of the critically acclaimed predecessor to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption and its iconic zombie-horror companion story, Undead Nightmare, can now be enjoyed on PC in stunning detail together in one stellar package. Red Dead Redemption includes new features to bring the game to life on PC, with HDR lighting, native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on supported hardware, monitor support for Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.

Unfortunately, only the Xbox 360 version retains the original release’s multiplayer component.
