Catch CSU marching band’s hometown parade ahead of Parade of Lights

Downtown Fort Collins holiday lights turn on for season

Hundreds gathered in Old Town as the downtown holiday lighting ceremony officially kicked off the season on Nov. 7, 2025.

Can’t make it down to Denver for its annual Parade of Lights Dec. 6? The Colorado State University marching band is putting on its own hometown preview parade the night before.

The performance will take place from 5:30-6 p.m. Dec. 5, with the band traveling east on Lake Street, north on Peterson Street, west on Pitkin Street and south on Remington Street before ending in front of CSU’s University Center for the Arts, 1400 Remington St.

Like past years, the marching band will perform again the following night at Parade of Lights — Denver’s annual holiday parade.

Onlookers are encouraged to bring lawn chair to set up along the route of the Fort Collins preview parade. Hot drinks will be available for purchase, according to the CSU website.
