High school in West Hartford placed in ‘secure’ mode

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A high school in West Hartford was placed in “secure school” mode on Tuesday.

In a message to parents, the district said that at around 8:47 a.m., they received a report about a possible weapon at Hall High School.

Police confirmed that a student thought they overheard something about a weapon in a bathroom; however, it turned out to not be accurate.

The district said that they were able to lift the secure mode protocol at around 12:43 p.m.

They said their response was out of an abundance of caution.

“We are deeply grateful for the swift response of the West Hartford Police Department, our school security team, our teachers, and our students. Their calm cooperation allowed us to address the situation efficiently and effectively,” said the district in the letter.

Counseling is available for students.
