Nuggets’ Jamal Murray makes basketball history never done in NBA

Jamal Murray was spectacular for the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-4 NBA champion guard finished the franchise’s contest against the Indiana Pacers with 52 points on 76.0% field goal shooting, 90.9% three-point shooting, and 95.6% true shooting.

Murray’s performance not only resulted in a 135-120 road victory but also a historic accomplishment.

“Jamal Murray now has the most games in NBA history with 50+ points on 95%+ TS,” Real Sports stated on X/Twitter after the game.

Murray is quietly putting together an All-Star caliber with the Nuggets. Murray, who has never earned an All-Star nod in the big leagues despite having plenty of success in Denver, is averaging 23.3 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game on a Nuggets squad with an encouraging 15-6 record.

The Kentucky product’s dynamic pick-and-roll partnership with Nikola Jokic and elite isolation scoring chops have helped him transform into one of the league’s most skilled frontcourt contributors.

The Nuggets will always have championship aspirations as long as Murray and Jokic continue to dominate at their respective positions. Will it be difficult for the 2023 NBA champions to dethrone the well-rounded Oklahoma City Thunder this season?

Absolutely, but considering Murray and company took the Thunder to seven games last season, the gap between the two squads isn’t as large as many believe.
