NBA Rumors: Heat, Tyler Herro, Bulls, Noa Essengue, Clippers

Heat

The Heat can add another player to the roster on December 13, but Miami has a few layers to sort through first.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel notes that the team needs to evaluate Tyler Herro’s incentive triggers, which are quickly slipping away. Herro is one missed game from being ineligible for All-NBA, making several bonuses unlikely to vest.

Miami also has to navigate the Terry Rozier situation. Rozier is on leave as the FBI continues its gambling probe, and it is unclear whether the league will allow the Heat to waive his $1.6 million guarantee on January 7.

Under normal circumstances, that date would open a door for roster flexibility. For now, it is simply unknown.

Add in the fact that the Heat have won 14 of their first 21 and sit near the top of the East, and there may not be a sense of urgency to touch the roster at all.

Bulls

Bulls rookie Noa Essengue will miss the remainder of the season. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network reports the No. 12 pick needs surgery on his left shoulder after suffering the injury during a Windy City Bulls game.

Head coach Billy Donovan said the staff chose to address it now to avoid dragging the issue into the offseason.

Essengue played only six minutes with the NBA club but looked good in the G League, averaging 23 points and eight boards. Donovan said the rookie handled the news well.

Clippers

The Clippers are sending “mixed signals” on Ivica Zubac’s availability, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

Zubac is drawing the most leaguewide interest of any Clipper, and rival teams believe it would take at least two first-round picks to enter the conversation.

Siegel floated Boston as a potential match, using Anfernee Simons’ expiring deal, though that appears to be speculation for now. What is more clear is that L.A. is willing to talk on John Collins.

His $26.6 million expiring contract holds value, but his production has dipped, with scoring and rebounding numbers at their lowest marks since his rookie year.

If the Clippers choose to pivot deeper into a retool, those are the two names teams expect to come up first.
