Serious crash shuts part of train line and Perth freeway

A serious collision between a car and truck has shut down a train line and caused traffic on a major freeway to come to a standstill.
Kwinana Freeway was closed between Armadale Road to Beeliar Drive southbound around 2pm after a truck and car collided near the Cockburn train station.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, with a St John ambulance taking the driver of the car — a female in her 60s — to Royal Perth Hospital.
She is in a stable condition.

The crash has caused the Mandurah line to be cancelled between Elizabeth Quay and Aubin Grove with replacement buses now running.
This is also causing delays on the Yanchep Line.
The freeway was reopened just before 3pm but is still reduced to a single lane.
Main Roads WA urged drivers to exercise extreme caution and consider exiting the freeway at South Street or Farrington Road.
