Georgia Harrison opens up on ‘fun’ moment with Prince William at MBE ceremony

Reality star Georgia Harrison has shared details about the moment she was awarded her MBE medal by Prince William.
The 30 year old former TOWIE personality, who featured in Love Island’s third series in 2017, has championed women’s and girls’ safety after falling victim to an ex-partner who distributed intimate videos online, and was officially appointed MBE during a Windsor Castle ceremony in October.
In 2021, she surrendered her right to anonymity before a trial that resulted in Stephen Bear being imprisoned for sharing a covertly filmed intimate video of her on the OnlyFans platform.
Following his sentencing in 2023, Georgia joined a protest organised by domestic violence charity Refuge outside Parliament, demanding specific safeguards for women and girls be incorporated into the Online Safety Bill.
Bear, also a reality television personality, received a 21-month prison term after being convicted of voyeurism and distributing private intimate images with intent to cause distress.
He was freed from HMP Brixton in 2024 having served 10 and a half months.
Georgia was honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours list for her contributions to combating online privacy violations and raising cyber crime awareness, receiving her MBE medal from the Prince of Wales in what she previously described as a “magical moment”.
Discussing her conversation with Prince William during Friday’s (December 5) Loose Women episode, Georgia, who was expecting when she collected her medal, disclosed: “It was surreal.
“You don’t find out until the day it’s going to be Prince William and I was so excited because I thought I can say one day to Sahara ‘you were there and you met the King’ because he’ll probably be the King when she’s older’.
“First of all, you really notice his presence. He’s such a powerful person.
“They talk you though how you approach him and how to curtsey, which I may have got a little bit wrong, but when I got there he basically said he’s seen everything I’ve experienced at the time and he seen it on the news and he thought I was really, really brave and the work that I done was so important.
“He asked what else I thought needed to change to help protect women online and protect children of the future and I got to speak to him about things which I believe will help shape the world Sahara is eventually going to live in and it was a once in a lifetime moment and it’s the biggest honour of my life so far apart from having Sahara.
“When I curtsied I fell over and the Prince actually cracked up and he was really laughing. It was a fun moment and he probably won’t forget it. He’ll be like ‘don’t bring a Love Islander in here again’.”
Beyond Love Island and TOWIE, Georgia has appeared on various reality television programmes including Celebrity Ex On The Beach and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which she claimed victory in alongside boxer Lani Daniels.
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
