Georgia Harrison has shared details about the extraordinary moment she was awarded her MBE by Prince William

Reality television personality Georgia Harrison has shared details about the extraordinary moment she was awarded her MBE by Prince William.

The 30-year-old star, known for her appearances on TOWIE and the third series of Love Island back in 2017, has become a prominent advocate for women’s and girls’ safety following her own harrowing experience as a victim of revenge pornography. She was formally honoured with an MBE at Windsor Castle in October this year.

Back in 2021, Georgia made the courageous decision to waive her anonymity before the trial that resulted in her ex-partner Stephen Bear being imprisoned for distributing a secretly filmed intimate video of her on the subscription platform OnlyFans.

Following Bear’s sentencing in 2023, Georgia joined a demonstration organised by domestic abuse charity Refuge outside Parliament, demanding stronger safeguards for women and girls within the Online Safety Bill.

Bear, who also rose to fame through reality television, received a 21-month prison term after being convicted of voyeurism and disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress, reports the Mirror.

He walked free from HMP Brixton in 2024 having served ten and a half months behind bars.

Georgia’s tireless work in combating online privacy violations and raising cyber crime awareness earned her recognition in the King’s Birthday Honours list, with the Prince of Wales personally presenting her MBE medal in what she previously described as a “magical moment”.

During Friday’s (5th December) episode of Loose Women, Georgia, who was expecting a baby when she collected her medal, reflected on her conversation with Prince William, saying: “It was surreal.

“You don’t find out until the day it’s going to be Prince William and I was so excited because I thought I can say one day to Sahara ‘you were there and you met the King’ because he’ll probably be the King when she’s older’.

“First of all, you really notice his presence. He’s such a powerful person.

“They talk you though how you approach him and how to curtsey, which I may have got a little bit wrong, but when I got there he basically said he’s seen everything I’ve experienced at the time and he seen it on the news and he thought I was really, really brave and the work that I done was so important.

“He asked what else I thought needed to change to help protect women online and protect children of the future and I got to speak to him about things which I believe will help shape the world Sahara is eventually going to live in and it was a once in a lifetime moment and it’s the biggest honour of my life so far apart from having Sahara.

“When I curtsied I fell over and the Prince actually cracked up and he was really laughing. It was a fun moment and he probably won’t forget it. He’ll be like ‘don’t bring a Love Islander in here again’.”

In addition to her stints on Love Island and TOWIE, Georgia has also appeared on reality TV shows such as Celebrity Ex On The Beach and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, where she emerged victorious alongside boxer Lani Daniels.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
