Harry Potter stars who are abandoning their childhood image with provocative roles

The actors of Harry Potter They grew up in the public eye, but the transition from child magicians to independent actors hasn’t been easy.

Many of them have chosen bold, provocative, and often controversial roles to shed the Hogwarts kid label once and for all.

The latest actor to take the step is Harry Melling, best known for his role as Dudley Dursley. The 36-year-old appears in the gay romantic drama pillion, which recently debuted with explicit BDSM scenes, so strong that the version shown at Cannes was moderated for the public, writes Dailymail.

The director admitted that many scenes were cut, including graphic sexual scenes, to avoid shocking the audience.

Melling, who has lost about 33 kg since Potter, has previously spoken about his desire to break away from the old image: “You have to move on… I hope that Potter thing slowly fades away.”.

He is not the only actor in the saga who has chosen to shock the public.

Daniel Radcliffe made the most dramatic turn since his first role since Potter with theatrical drama Equus, where he appeared completely naked on stage for about 10 minutes.

The actor has shown that it was a way to free himself from the constraints of the Harry Potter image and gain confidence in his body and acting.

Radcliffe continued to accept daring roles, adding that stripping on stage helped him break down any psychological barriers: “There’s nothing like a nude scene to face all your fears.”

The interplay of provocative new roles by Melling, Radcliffe and their colleagues points to a clear trend: former child stars are doing everything they can to build new artistic identities even if it means removing every trace of the magical world that made them famous. /Telegraph/
