Rohit joins Kohli, Tendulkar, Dravid in elite list of Indians with 20000 international runs

Rohit Sharma became the fourth Indian and 14th cricketer overall to score 20000 runs in international cricket as he put India in a commanding position in the 3rd ODI against South Africa.

Rohit Sharma on Saturday brought up another big milestone in his career as he reached to 20000 runs in international cricket, a feat only achieved by four other Indians. Before Rohit, only three Indian cricketers had crossed the 20000 run mark in their international careers. Sachin Tendulkar was the first one to do so followed by Rahul Dravid. Virat Kohli was the third Indian to reach the milestone and the 38-year-old opener has now joined the list.

Overall, Rohit became the 14th cricketer to score 20000 international runs. The former Indian captain did so in 505 innings. He also went past AB de Villiers to become the 13th highest run-scorer in international cricket.

Rohit continued to find runs in the ODI series as he brought up his 61st half-century in the format to keep India in control of the chase. India need 271 runs to win the series which is currently tied at 1-1.

The right-hander got to his 50th run of the innings in 54 balls to take India beyond the 100-run mark in the 20th over. Rohit had earlier hit a half-century in the series opener as well. In that match also
Rohit had managed to get his name etched in history by breaking the record of Shahid Afridi to top the list of most sixes in ODIs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting alongside Rohit as the left-hander too had raised the maiden half-century of his ODI career. The duo raised a century partnership which is India’s first in this format agianst South Africa since the 2013 Champions Trophy. Rohit also has been involved in a century stand for the opening wicket in ODIs 35 times now. Only Sachin Tendulkar has more with 40 such involvements.
