A star from The Pitt joins Brie Larson in FX’s upcoming psychological thriller series Cry Wolf. Larson and Olivia Colman were previously announced to have signed onto the project, which is inspired by the award-winning Danish miniseries Ulven Kommer.
Per Deadline, The Pitt‘s Shawn Hatosy is officially part of Cry Wolf‘s cast as well. He will play the husband of April (Larson) and the stepfather of her teenage daughter, Mia. Colman plays Kath, a social worker who investigates Mia’s allegations of her stepfather abusing her.
This new role for Hatosy comes after he won the Emmy Award for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Dr. Jack Abbot in The Pitt season 1. He is reprising the role for The Pitt season 2 and he directed an episode. The new season will make its HBO Max debut on January 8.

Hatosy has the potential to be part of another award-winning series if FX’s Cry Wolf follows in the footsteps of its Danish predecessor. It won Best TV Series, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor for Denmark’s Robert Awards in 2020. Peter Plaugborg, who won for Best Supporting Actor, played the role of the stepfather, the same character that Hatosy is playing in the FX version.
In addition to Cry Wolf and The Pitt, Hatosy is also part of the cast of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. He was not in the first film, which was released in 2019, but will make his debut in the horror sequel in the role of Titus Danforth. A trailer for the film was recently released ahead of the April 10, 2026, premiere in theaters.
Hatosy has also received recognition for a series he previously starred in, with Animal Kingdom‘s episodes becoming a massive streaming hit for Netflix. He played Andrew “Pope” Cody through all six seasons of the crime drama series, and there has been speculation about a potential revival given the streaming success on Netflix.
As for Larson, she stars in Cry Wolf after appearing in an episode of The Bear season 4. Her last major television role was in Apple TV’s Lessons in Chemistry. Colman’s more recent projects include The Roses, a reimagining of The War of the Roses where she starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, along with her role in Paddington in Peru.
