On-campus residence hall and dining rates approved for 2026-27

During its Dec. 5 meeting, the Indiana University Board of Trustees approved on-campus residence hall and dining rates for each campus with housing for the 2026-27 academic year. Standard room and board increases are at or below 3% from the previous year.

“Indiana University remains committed to managing costs responsibly while continuing to strategically invest in the upkeep and enhancement of our housing and dining facilities,” said Donald Lukes, IU treasurer. “The approved rate increases will support ongoing renovation, maintenance and operations, ensuring our residence halls and dining services remain safe, modern and student-centered.”

At IU Bloomington, the standard room and board rate will increase by 2% to a total of $12,679 per year.

At IU Indianapolis, room and board rates for the most common room type will increase by 1.68%, bringing the total to $13,555 per year.

At IU South Bend, room rates across all types will increase by 3%, with the most prevalent rate at $7,160 per year.

At IU Southeast, room rates will rise by 3%. The most common room rate will be $9,120 per year.

IU Southeast will also be adding a required meal plan to room and board for 2026-27, with the base plan costing $800 for the academic year. The campus has expanded its dining options beginning this year to bring enhanced service and on-campus options for its students.

Dining plan rates also will increase by 2% at both IU Bloomington and IU Indianapolis. At IU South Bend, on-campus residents will again be required to purchase a dining plan; their room and board rate will include $824 toward the lowest-tier plan.
