‘SHE’S MAKING A LIST’: ONE OF THE NETWORK’S BIG SEASONAL TITLES

Casting two of its powerhouse stars, She’s Making a List is, I am sure, one of the last of 2025 Hallmark hopes does exceedingly well.

Santa and the elves have so many wishes to grant that screening the naughty or nice list is no longer a job they can manage. Now they need a consulting firm to do the job. Working there is the group’s top inspector Isabel (Lacey Chabert). 

Rigid and quite particular about her job, Isabel takes this seriously. Her latest case is Charlie Duncan, a preteen who ends up making her question everything about her professional list. Then meeting Charlie’s dad Jason (Andrew Walker) makes Isabel wonder if there is more to life.

Given its two lead stars, I have a feeling that She’s Making a List is one of the titles that the network had high hopes for. I cannot say whether it meets any of these expectations, but the concept is fun. The film decides to break the infamous “fourth wall” by having Chabert address the viewers. I’m not sure we’ve seen her in a role similar to this, and I think it’s nice to see her play a role that in some ways goes against her usual type. Walker is still good in his role, and he plays (again) a likable guy easy to root on.

Even with the naughty and nice themes, which goes well with the season, She’s Making a List is still cheerful and fun. There is plenty of important lessons and good morals, which still matters. Movies that don’t have this somehow feel emptier. Whether this one tops your nice list or not, it’s still a cute one, so enjoy it with that framework.
