Half-Life 3 Fans Warily Marking Their Calendars For December 11

Being a Half-Life 3 fan isn’t easy, and it’s been a struggle for players to keep their hopes alive after constantly being disappointed by leaks and having no official confirmation from Valve that the game even exists. Recently, there’s been an escalation in rumors over an upcoming official Half-Life announcement, possibly at this year’s The Game Awards.

A new leak (via Reddit) has many players raising eyebrows, suggesting that Half-Life 3 is not only in the works, but that “an announcement is imminent.” Further, the leaker, who goes by Source2LeakAIML, suggests here that “Half-Life 3 should be announced on the 11th,” which also happens to be this year’s date for The Game Awards ceremony.

Source2LeakAIML claims to have worked “on the tech for Half-Life 3,” and suggests that the game is “effectively the tech demo” for a major, game-changing advancement in the game’s Source 2 engine physics.

Players are rightfully leery to believe the leak after being burned countless times, but as far as Half-Life 3 leaks go, this is among one of the more believable ones to surface in some time.

Half-Life 3 Is Looking More And More Likely

Redditors speculate that the post might just be a cleverly worded regurgitation of already-released information with unverifiable details sprinkled in to make it appear legit. There are quite a few red flags here, but this is still a rather convincing leak as far as HL3 leaks/rumors go, even if it turns out to be a hoax.

Whether the information in the reported leak is true, we simply won’t know until December 11, despite there being heavy skepticism. That said, with The Game Awards 2025 scheduled in just a matter of weeks, Half-Life fans secretly have their fingers crossed whether they like to admit it or not. It’s

Half-Life 3 fans are absolutely going to be tuned in to The Game Awards and other channels on December 11, whether or not the above leak ends up being legit. Rumors have already been swirling over a possible TGA Half-Life 3 announcement, largely fueled by Valve’s recent Steam Machine and hardware launch and speculation that HL3 could be the launch title.

Further, Geoff Keighley is up to his usual antics ahead of The Game Awards 2025, creating elaborate hype campaigns online with mysterious statues and ambiguous social media posts. Overall, rumors and leaks for Half-Life 3 are at an all-time high, and while fans are always going to temper their expectations, they’re cautiously optimistic that December 11 will finally be their day.
