Patriots won’t hesitate to attack weakness that’s popped up for Bills star

FOXBOROUGH — James Cook has been one of the NFL’s best running backs this season.
The Bills star has already run for 1,308 yards, second most in the league to Jonathan Taylor, and he’s found the end zone eight times.
However, a bit of kryptonite has popped up for Cook in recent weeks.
The Bills back has fumbled four times in the past two games, bringing his total to six on the season. It hasn’t led to any sort of benching — Cook still had 55 touches in the past two games — and it’s certainly something Patriots defenders are aware of ahead of Sunday’s matchup.
Asked about containing Cook on Wednesday, edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson pointed to eliminating cutback lanes and then going after the football.
“Staying gap sound, for sure,” Chaisson said. “That’s going to be most important as a defense. There’s going to be times when you’re going to be eagerly wanting to get over and cross over and make a play. But as a d-line, we’ve been talking about that all day. Staying gap sound and trusting guys behind you.
“…and attacking the ball. He had some trouble with that last week, so continuing to go after the ball and slow him down for sure.”
