Even though Tilak Varma was not part of India’s playing XI in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur, he made his presence felt with stunning fielding, saving five runs for his team. During South Africa’s chase of 359 on Wednesday, Tilak came on as a substitute fielder and in the 20th over made a spectacular stop to prevent a six. He leapt into the air to stop a ball that was heading over the boundary. Everyone watching was left amazed by his effort. Even Aiden Markram, who played the shot, couldn’t help but admire Tilak’s incredible fielding.
How was the catch?
The in-form South African opener, Markram, hit an aerial shot off Kuldeep Yadav’s fourth ball in the 20th over. Tilak, positioned at long-on, jumped high and caught the ball with both hands. Realizing he had gone over the boundary, he showed amazing athleticism and awareness by throwing the ball back into the field, saving a total of five runs.
