The Game Awards 2025 Debuts Upcoming Shooter From Apex Legends Creators

In one of the final reveals of the evening, Geoff Keighly excitedly announced the upcoming game from the creators of Apex Legends and Titanfall.
Debuted during The Game Awards 2025, Wildlight Entertainment showcased Highguard —an intense team-based FPS that combines high-octane action with arcane mysticism. Players take on the role of Wardens: arcane gunslingers sent to battle for control of a mythical continent. They’ll fight against rival Warden crews for possession of the Shieldbreaker
Players will fight on horseback or on foot as they traverse massive maps, fighting to gain ground against their opponents. The trailer showed off enemies both human and monstrous, and some shocking surprises—including a massive castle-sized tank with a lion’s head on the front. While the trailer didn’t provide a ton of details, it seemed to show off a host of different potential characters to play, each with different abilities and possible roles.
The trailer also shows that Wildlight Entertainment seems to be playing to their strengths, creating incredibly elaborate and highly detailed maps that run a wide range of styles and themes. From ancient castles to underground mines, players will have a lot of variety when it comes to strategizing in every match.
“We’re a veteran team who’ve spent years together, creating some of the biggest hits in gaming, including Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Titanfall. With our first game, we are hyper-focused on creating a new gaming universe of similarly epic scale and quality,” said Co-Founder and CEO of Wildlight, Dusty Welch.
Following this sentiment, Co-Founder & Game Director of Wildlight Entertainment, Chad Grenier said, “We created Wildlight because we wanted a game studio where design leads and new games can be built without compromise.” He added “Our time on Apex Legends and Titanfall taught us a lot about what it takes to build and sustain a successful franchise.
Highguard launches Free-to-Play on January 26, 2026, with cross-play and cross-progression across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
