Recall issued over common frozen food

An urgent recall of a popular frozen food sold across Aussie supermarkets is underway, amid fears the popular snack may contain plastic or metal fragments from contamination
The recall is specifically for McCain Pizza Pockets Cheese & Bacon 400g with batch codes of 1005481714 and best before dates marked October 2026 289, October 2026 290 or October 2026 291.
The product has been available for sale in Woolworths, Coles and independent retailers such as IGA nationally and online.
The warning states there is a risk of illness or injury if the plastic is consumed.
“Consumers should not eat this product,” Food Standards Australia and New Zealand advised. They also urged any consumers concerned about their health to seek medical advice.
A McCains spokesperson told 9News that the company “takes the safety and well-being of our consumers very seriously”.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” the statement read.
