The Edmonton Oilers are pulling the trigger on a trade to revamp their goaltending position.
Edmonton is sending goaltender Stuart Skinner, defenceman Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second-round pick to the Penguins in return.
Jarry has been on the Oilers’ radar as Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported back on Dec. 7, the team’s interest in making a deal work, but that it was a complicated trade to make.
The 30-year-old has two more years left on his current contract, owed $5.375 million.
This season, Jarry has 9-3-1 with a 2.66 goals-against and a .909 save percentage this season. In 307 career appearances, Jarry has a 161-100-32 record with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.
Skinner has had his struggles this season, going 11-8-4 with a 2.83 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage in 23 appearances. Despite his inconsistent play, Skinner has helped the Oilers reach back-to-back Stanley Cup Final appearances.
Kulak is in the final year of a four-year, $11 million deal he signed back in 2022. The 31-year-old has two assists while averaging 17:42 of ice time in 31 games so far this season.
Poulin has appeared in just two games this season and 15 career games since being selected in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft. The 24-year-old also has nine goals and 20 points in 22 games in the AHL this season.
Edmonton is also making a separate deal for defenceman Spencer Stastney from the Nashville Predators for a third-round pick in 2027.
Stastney has a goal and nine points in 30 games this season for the Predators. The 25-year-old was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft by Nashville.
