Early morning standoff in East Providence ends peacefully

East Providence police said an hours-long standoff early Saturday morning ended peacefully.
“At no time was the public in danger. Thank you to the neighbors for putting up with our loud speakers and siren in the early morning hours,” police said on social media.
Police said Pawtucket Avenue between Pleasant Street and Newman Avenue was closed during the response.
“Members of our Patrol Division, Special Reaction Team, and Crisis Negotiation Team braved the frigid temperatures for nearly four hours during this call for service,” police said. “Their work was professional, honorable, and undoubtably resulted in a peaceful resolution.”
