Aldi has issued an urgent recall of a Christmas food item which shoppers are warned could pose a “possible health risk” if consumed.

The supermarket is recalling its Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets due to them containing an “undeclared” allergen. As the product was labelled incorrectly and did not declare this allergen upon its packaging, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned the item could pose a “health risk” to some shoppers.

Aldi’s Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets contain the undeclared allergen egg, and the FSA is warning any shoppers with an allergy to egg to not consume the item.

Issuing a product recall notice, the FSA wrote: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg do not eat it. Instead return it to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund.”

Aldi has also issued a product safety notice, where the supermarket outlined the recall is taking place as a “precautionary measure”. The supermarket added: “We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your cooperation.”

Shoppers are now being urged to return any affected batches of the Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets to their nearest Aldi store. Affected batches of the 278g packs of Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets have the use by date of December 15 2025.

For further information on the recall shoppers can also contact Aldi Customer services on 0800 042 0800. Aldi is also understood to have issued point-of-sale notices to customers to alert them to the recall.

The recall comes after Aldi also recalled Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks at the start of the month due to them containing peanuts, which were not mentioned on the product’s label. The product was therefore recalled as it may pose a risk to anyone who is allergic to peanuts and unaware of their presence in the product.

Issuing a product safety recall for the product at the time, Aldi said its supplier was recalling Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks as a “precautionary measure”. All 90g packets of Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks with the batch code 4061463276865 were included in the recall.
