Assistant Conductor Pablo Zamora joined Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner to share how audiences can experience a festive atmosphere, complete with a special guest appearance by Santa himself.

“Something that not many people know, it was a surprise for me, too, is that the music of Home Alone is by John Williams. So it’s fantastic music,” said Zamore, “And what we do is we project the movie, like when you go to the movies, on the big screen, but then the difference is that the soundtrack is being played live by the orchestra, and it sounds so good.”

For those feeling lucky, there’s even a chance to win free tickets. Zamora also mentioned the “Symphony on the Street” initiative, where the orchestra engages with the community through fun activities like a Christmas quotes quiz.

“So in the Austin Symphony Orchestra, we wanted to get to know the community better and invite them to the orchestra. So we’ve been going out on the streets asking people very simple questions. For example, can you hum the beginning of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony?”
