Canucks sign Max Sasson to two-year extension

The Vancouver Canucks announced Monday they signed Max Sasson to a two-year contract extension that will pay the forward $1 million through the 2027-28 season.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with F Max Sasson on a two-year contract with a $1M AAV.

“Max has made the most of the opportunity presented to him this season and has provided us with some solid play,” Canucks’ GM Patrik Allvin said in a press release. “Since signing with the organization out of college, he has shown significant improvement, using his speed and skill to build a strong foundation for his future. Max was a key contributor to our championship run last year in Abbotsford, and we’re excited to watch him continue to grow as a player.”

The news was first reported on social media by Sasson’s agent, Dan Milstein.

Through 29 games this season, Sasson, a native of Birmingham, Mich., has six goals and two assists for eight points. In 58 career NHL games, the 25-year-old has recorded nine goals and six assists for 15 points.

Sasson has also spent parts of four seasons with Vancouver’s AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. In 106 games, he’s scored 34 goals and 44 assists for 78 points. His most productive professional season came in 2023-24, where he finished with 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points.

Before turning professional, Sasson spent two seasons in the NCAA playing college hockey for Western Michigan. In 75 total games, the 6-foot-1 forward scored 24 goals and 40 assists for 64 points.

Sasson also spent parts of four seasons in the United States Hockey league, where he scored 39 goals and 52 assists for 91 points in 156 career regular-season games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Waterloo Black Hawks.

The Canucks are 12-17-3 with 27 points, last in the Pacific Division, Western Conference and the entire league. They travel east this week, facing the New York Rangers on Tuesday, the New York Islanders on Friday then the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
