DRAMATIC footage shows the moment an enormous ‘Statue of Liberty’ crashes to the ground in southern Brazil.

High winds reached up to 55mph as Brazil was struck by a powerful storm on December 15.
Footage shows cars driving away from the statue as it toppled over, but no injuries were reported.
The tower came crashing down at 3pm at the height of the storm which ravaged the whole state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The enormous statue landed on its head, which smashed into pieces on impact.

The replica Statue of Liberty stood in the car park of a Havan retail mega store, and measured 78 feet.
The 36ft pedestal on which it was perched remained intact.
The statue had been in place since 2020, Havan confirmed.
A severe weather warning had been given by Defesa Civil, Brazil’s civil defence authority.
Other areas in the state reported power cuts, fallen trees, damaged roofs and hail.
Heavy rain also caused flooding in nearby Lajeado.

The company said the area had been immediately cordoned off to protect staff and customers.
Within hours, specialist teams were sent in to remove debris, the company told local media.
They said: “The area was immediately isolated by the company, following all safety protocols.”
Marcelo Maranata, the mayor of Guaíba, confirmed there were no casualties and praised the fast response to the incident.
He said that Civil Defence officials had worked with local teams to secure the site and to check for other damage in the area.
