A major police operation is underway in Liverpool, in Sydney’s southwest, as officers armed with large guns and dressed in camouflage have reportedly detained at least three men.
The operation has taken place on the intersection of George Street and Campbell Street, next to a primary school, with reports of surrounding business, including a medical centre placed on lockdown.
It is understood a police 4WD was run into by a white Hyundai during a dramatic traffic stop.
Footage shows NSW Police Public Order and Riot Squad car passing by shortly thereafter with multiple people detained, lying on the ground.
In a statement police have said there is no threat to the community.
