Kevin Garnett is returning to Minnesota.
The Boston Celtics legend and NBA Hall of Famer has a new “all-encompassing role involving business, community and fan-engagement efforts and content development,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
Garnett’s role will also involve the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx.
The Timberwolves will also retire Garnett’s No. 21 at some point during the next two seasons.
After finishing his career in Minnesota in 2016, Garnett distanced himself from the organization due to a fallout with former owner Glen Taylor, who refused to retire Garnett’s jersey. Now Garnett has built a relationship with Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez.
Garnett helped lead the Timberwolves to eight consecutive playoff appearances. He averaged 19.8 points and 11 rebounds per game during his tenure that also included 10 All-Star nods, three first team All-NBA teams was named the 2003-04 NBA MVP.
