Bradley Walsh found himself asking: “Is this a wind up?” after an unusual set of questions on The Chase. Kirsten, Wesley, Barbara and Jonathan made up the team of four contestants hoping to test their general knowledge skills against one of the UK’s best quizzers.

Jonathan from the USA was first up to take on The Chaser, who in this case was Darragh The Menace Ennis. He gave a great performance in the Cash Builder round, accumulating £4,000.

But after a tense head to head against The Menace, Jonathan’s time on the quiz show came to an unfortunate end. He failed to outrun The Chaser and left the show empty-handed.

Barbara from Seaford was next up to take on The Chaser. She hoped to make a better impression on the quiz show after accumulating £5,000 in the Cash Builder round.

But it was Barbara’s head to head against The Menace which had Bradley Walsh claiming one question was a “joke”. The TV presenter asked the question: “What does the phrase ‘rock up’ mean?” The options were “awaken”, “annoy” or “arrive”.

After reading out the easy question, Brad asked himself: “Is that a joke? Is that a joke question?”

He compared the simplicity of the question to asking what “hello” means. He joked: “What does ‘hello’ mean is it A) a greeting, B) a football or C) a horse.” He added: “What’s the matter with the lot of you?”

Taking to social media during the episode, The Chase fans were in agreement that the question was easy. On X, one viewer said: “Brad’s right what a pathetic question.”

Despite a lucky set of questions, Barbara struggled to outrun The Menace and her time on the ITV show came to an end. She soon heard Bradley Walsh’s dreaded words: “You have been caught and for you the chase is over.”

He added: “Ouch bad luck, two up and two out.” The ITV host soon found himself in a familiar situation when it came down to Wesley’s run against The Menace.

He asked another relatively easy question, questioning: “Is this a wind up?” The question was: “What name is given to a small piece of metal that produces a spark in a lighter?” The options were “wick”, “match” and “flint”.

Bradley told the contestant: “If you haven’t got this right I think you should take a good look in the mirror.” Thankfully, Wesley selected the correct answer of “wick” and earned the first spot in the final chase.

Finally, it was Kirsten’s turn to test her luck on the ITV show. She accumulated £4,000 in the Cash Builder and secured a seat in the final with Wesley.

But in the end, their combined score wasn’t strong enough to beat The Chaser. Wesley and Kirsten left the show empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX
