A player on The Chase proved Bradley Walsh wrong as he chose to ignore the ITV host’s advice. Dale, Caroline, Jacqui and Tim made up the team of four contestants who were hoping to test their general knowledge skills against one of the UK’s best quizzers.
Tim was first up to take on The Chaser, who in this case was Shaun Wallace aka The Dark Destroyer. Although he gave a great attempt at the Cash Builder round, Tim’s nerves got the better of him and he failed to answer any questions correctly.
After a nerve-wracking quick-fire round, Bradley Walsh was quick to reassure the contestant. He said: “We didn’t score anything but it’s not about the Cash Builder, it’s about what you get collectively and how many players you can get in the box. It’s bodies in the box that’s what counts.
Shaun Wallace also said: “Put what happened here out of your mind. It takes courage to do that and come out here.”
The Chase offered Tim the chance to go back with £0, or to take the chance and go high for £10,000. Tim revealed he wanted to take the risk, but Bradley soon interrupted to give his opinion.
Bradley said: “Let me just say something before we go forward. What if all three of your team get through and you don’t, and they lose the final by one. It’s bodies in the box that matter.”
However, Tim decided to ignore the quiz host’s advice and backed himself. He said: “I’m going to stick with my decision and I’m going for the £10,000.”

Shaun Wallace also doubted the quizzer, telling him: “I personally think you should’ve gone for zero.”
But Tim soon proved everyone wrong as he managed to outrun The Dark Destroyer. He returned to his teammates and secured the first spot in the final chase, kickstarting the shared prize pot with a whopping £10,000.
Bradley congratulated the player, saying: “That was a great performance, you bounced back, look at that.”
The ITV host also shared that he had never seen such an impressive outcome on The Chase, for a player to come to the table with £0 and leave with £10,000.
He said: “I’ve been doing this show since the beginning and that’s never happened before. I can’t remember that happening before. Brilliant, well played you’ve completely redeemed yourself.”
Impressed with his performance, Tim returned to the team and Bradley invited Jacqui to test her luck against The Chaser. But she soon heard Bradley’s dreaded words: “You have been caught and for you the chase is over.”
Caroline was next up and hoped to make a better impression but unfortunately left the show empty-handed. Finally it was Dale’s turn to face The Chaser, and he managed to add another £1,000 to the prize pot.
In the end, Dale and Tim tested their luck against The Dark Destroyer one final time but their score of nine wasn’t strong enough to triumph on the quiz show. The two players said their goodbyes and left the show empty-handed.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX
