Strong winds, rain and flurries mark unsettled weather stretch in Montreal

An unsettled weather pattern is bringing rain, strong winds and fluctuating temperatures to the region, with a yellow wind warning in effect Friday for several areas.
Rain will taper off Friday afternoon, followed by mainly cloudy skies and a 40 per cent chance of lingering rain showers or flurries. Rainfall amounts are expected to reach 10 to 15 millimetres. Temperatures will rise to a high of plus 8 Celsius before dropping to zero by the afternoon.
The yellow warning highlights the risk posed by strong southwesterly winds gusting up to 90 kilometres an hour this afternoon and this evening. The affected areas include the Greater Montreal Area, Drummondville and the Bois-Francs. Winds will shift from the southeast at 30 kilometres an hour, gusting to 50, before strengthening from the southwest near 60, gusting to 90. Winds are expected to gradually ease overnight Friday night. Local utility outages are possible.
Friday night will bring a few flurries ending near midnight, followed by clearing skies. Local blowing snow is expected during the evening. The low will fall to minus – 7 C, with a wind chill near minus – 16 C.
Conditions improve slightly Saturday, with mainly sunny skies in the morning and increasing cloudiness in the afternoon. Winds will be lighter, and the high will reach minus – 3 C, with a wind chill near minus – 14 C . Periods of snow are expected Saturday night, with a low of minus – 2 C.
Sunday will remain cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers and windy conditions. The high will reach plus 1 C. Cloudy periods will continue Sunday night, with temperatures dropping to minus – 11 C.
Monday is expected to bring a mix of sun and cloud and a high of minus – 6 C, followed by clear skies overnight and a low of minus – 13 C.
