Ariana Grande Offers a Glimpse of Life Beyond Glinda

After two years of nonstop pink, Ariana Grande is preparing for a life after Glinda.

Grande, who is hosting SNL this week, took her promo as an opportunity to leave Oz. Filming a spot with SNL cast member (and her Wicked co-star) Bowen Yang and musical guest Cher, Grande opted for a vintage Bob Mackie dress: an empire-waist yellow and brown chevron halter dress with criss-crossing straps and a matching sash that hung from her elbows.

While the 1970s dress was already an impressive archive pull, don’t expect anything less than a deep cut from Grande and her stylist, Law Roach. Carol Burnett wore the dress for her opening monologue for the March 17 1973 episode of The Carol Burnett Show.

Though she may have traded Glinda for some eternal sunshine, don’t expect Grande to leave the good witch behind entirely. With awards season ramping up (and a 2026 Golden Globe nomination for supporting actress already under her belt), Grande is still indulging in method dressing. That includes the dress she wore to stop by Late Night With Seth Meyers last night: a custom pale mauve tulle Paolo Sebastian number with a full, ladylike skirt and a button-up, off-the-shoulder bodice.

Although Ariana Grande likely still has some Glinda looks in her arsenal, she’s also teasing what comes next with her sunny vintage Bob Mackie dress.
