Minnesota Timberwolves at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trail Blazers open their seasons Wednesday at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Timberwolves vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
2024-25 season series: Split 2-2
The Timberwolves won 49 games last season, advancing to the Western Conference Finals before bowing out to the eventual champion Oklahoma City Thunder. There wasn’t much movement in terms of personnel. G Johnny Juzang was acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks, and the team re-signed G Bones Hyland, F Joe Ingles, F Julius Randle and C Naz Reid, mostly keeping things status quo. G Donte DiVincenzo, C Rudy Gobert and F Jaden McDaniels return to form the foundation of the roster.
The Trail Blazers split a 4-game regular-season series with the Wolves last season, proving that Portland can be a thorn. The team made some significant personnel changes, adding G Jrue Holiday and G Damian Lillard while moving C Deandre Ayton, G Anfernee Simons, and F Jabari Walker. Fans will have to wait for the Dame reunion, however, as he is still recovering from an Achilles injury. Young pieces Toumani Camara and Shaedon Sharpe each received contract extensions.

Timberwolves at Trail Blazers picks and predictions
Prediction
Timberwolves 115, Trail Blazers 106
If you’re on the conservative side, the TIMBERWOLVES (-185) are worth a look as moderate favorites if you just want to pick a side and prefer not to mess around with the points.
However, before finalizing your wager — whether straight up or ATS — make sure to double-check if Ant Man is playing. If Edwards is sidelined, all bets are off.
The TIMBERWOLVES -4.5 (-105) are worth a look to win by at least 2 buckets. But, again, make sure Edwards is active.
Still, the Blazers are without Henderson, and of course, Lillard is out as well. However, Holiday still has plenty in the tank, so this won’t be a blowout by any means.
The OVER 220.5 (-110) is the LEAN, but go with a half-unit play at most.
The Under cashed in the final 2 meetings, but the Over is 5-2 in the past 7 matchups dating back to Feb. 13, 2024. However, like the line, Edwards’ status makes a huge difference. If he plays, take the Over; if he is inactive for the opener, consider an Under 220.5 (-110) wager.
